Saturday night Carrie Underwood filled with ample glitz and hits with the former American Idol sensation the centre of attention for roughly 17,500 fans.
Making her way to the stage from beneath a multi-tiered screen, Underwood wasted no time getting down to business with Renegade Runaway with lights, smoke and lasers that made you take notice instantly.
One major difference this time around was the presentation with Underwood, wife of Nashville Predators forward Mike Fisher, making the most of an “in the round” stage setup. The design, far friendly in terms of sight lines, saw the singer strutting her stuff on a large circular rotating main stage with a small stage on either side. It certainly placated the fans standing on the floor who drowned out Underwood at times.
Underwood mentioned how special the venue was it was at the Air Canada Centre where she first Fisher. She then dedicated the sweet What I Never Knew I Always Wanted as photos of the couple and their child were shown.
The homestretch included Fishin’ In The Dark with openers Easton Corbin and the Swon Brothers helping Underwood before All-American Girl, Little Toy Guns and Before He Cheats closed the well-executed, hit-heavy main set.
